Climber
Perhaps I should start strapping him in. Every time I turn around he's on a chair, a step-stool, a table, the couch, the stairs. He even used his baby chair to climb over the side of the couch. Problem is he'll fall right off. He has no idea how to get down but isn't afraid to try many techniques (head first is a favorite). Talia never climbed ANYTHING. I was still helping her onto the couch at 3 years old. Notice our new "stair gate" (a big piece of cardboard painted by Talia and me). It's working so far to keep him off the stairs. I used to consider the high chair a safe place for him while I unloaded the dishwasher (another favorite climbing spot) but I took the straps off because T never needed them. Now they're back on but semi-broken and need to be pulled through the seat cover which I now have to take off to wash all the time. And still no walking...

Oh, my boys were both climbers. I would literally wash my hands and find one up ON the counter, cabinets open, using top shelves as a ladder. I went through long months with each boy where I had to use stacking dining chairs so I could stick them in a corner between uses since they were always used for climbing! We haven't had a coffee table in a long time for the same reason - I was just realizing the other day - HEY I can have a coffee table again! ;)
We also haven't had a coffee table since Talia was born. We just got one three days ago-- a train table. So far no climbing on it... I suspect it will go into the playroom or the basement (also a playroom) after the newness wears off. It's a great height for both kids to play with.
It looks like Alex is trying to compete with the growing tomatoes! Children and plants in Madison grow like weeds!!!! It looks amazing.
But, really, Talia's just now giving up her nap?? Wow!
Talia gave up her nap the day Alex was born-- but they make her nap in school. It's AWFUL. She doesn't have a problem with it but I certainly do! In her new classroom they can wake her up after 30 minutes, so hopefully that will be ok!
